The students will gain an understanding of the planets and the Solar
System.

4. Objectives-
|
1.Students will demonstrate an understanding that there are objects
other than the Sun in Solar System.
2.Students will identify two planets and a characteristic of each
planet.
3.Students will identify the Earth as the planet they live on.
4.Students will identify the Sun as the mass that all the planets
orbit around. |

5. Materials and Aids-
|
Pre-made paper mache planets and solar system scene.
Pre-made planet cutouts and informative information.
Flashlights. |

6. Procedures/Methods-
|
A. Introduction-
1.Students will attend during lecture and "journey into space".
2.Students will point to and/or otherwise indicate planet names and
characteristics of the planets.
3.Students will participate in active "orbit" activity. |

Practice-
Students will be a part of future class presentations on the Solar
System. |
|
|
Independent Practice-
Students will complete solar system homework assignment. |
|
|
Accommodations (Differentiated Instruction)-
Angel will use an augmentative communication device to participate
throughout lesson and assessments. |

|
Checking for understanding-
Students will partake in short assessment to monitor their understanding
of lesson objectives.
|
|
|
Closure-
Students will review assessment answers as a group and be given
an opportunity to correctly answer any missed questions. |
