1. Topic-
|
Human Body and Functions (inside and outside) |
|
|
2. Content-
|
Human body Parts
Functions of the human body parts and organs |
|
|
3. Goals: Aims/Outcomes-
|
1. Gain knowledge of the human body.
2. Gain knowledge of the functions of body parts.
3. Gain knowledge of how body parts work together |
|
|
4. Objectives-
|
1. Identify parts of the human body.
2. Explore the functions of the human body and its organs.
3. Identify and explore how each body part and organ work together
to allow each other body part to function and how they function together. |
|
|
5. Materials and Aids-
|
Paper, markers, power point, visual aids, text books, posters. |
|
|
6. Procedures/Methods-
|
A. Introduction-
1. Ask questions on body parts and organs
2. Ask about functions of different body parts and different organs
to see what knowledge known and what is not.
3. Talk about the human body and how we use it everyday. |
|
|
B. Development-
1.Focus on background knowledge that students may already have of
human body parts and organ functions
2.Brainstorm with students, to give opportunity for students to share
prior knowledge and area of knowledge.
3.Organize knowledge from unknown knowledge.
4. State objectives with students so they can have an understanding
of the lesson. |
|
|
C. Practice-
1.Review human body with the class by discussing the human body
parts and making a chart of body party and functions.
2. Group work to review body parts and functions by doing different
exercise to review body parts such as creating a human body and filling
in the different body parts. Group work each group is a different
organ and they must write down different functions and share with
the class.
|
|
|
D. Independent Practice-
1.Handout worksheets for students to fill in and use for review
for test.
2. Have a open class discussion so that students can participate in
class discussion.
3. As a part of the class discussion I will have student come and
write different body parts and their functions and later we will share.
4. I will have students draw different body parts and we will alter
combined all of the students body parts to create a human body.
5. I will have homework assignments for students to take home and
bring back to review with the class.
6. independent lesson will be for each student to have body part and
they must write down different functions and the purpose of the body
part.
I will make observations of each student and ask many question and
also any questions to help students gain the proper knowledge. |
|
|
E. Accommodations (Differentiated Instruction)-
1. Lessons will be designed to meet all students learning styles.
2. I will group students to benefit their needs in order for them
to gain knowledge from one another.
3. While completing each lesson I will be adjusting the lesson as
we go to ensure each students needs are being met so that they can
gain the proper knowledge. |
|
|
F. Checking for understanding-
1.Review with students as a class by talking to students and discussing
the different parts of human body and each functions.
2. Review with paired groups and groups to see where students stand.
I will ask students various questions to see where their knowledge
is and what I need to review, add or take away from the lesson for
the students.
I will start a class discussion to have students talk about what they
have learned and what knowledge they have.
3.I will have a print out for students of a human body and students
must fill in the blank of the body part and function, students will
hand this in and I check and fix any errors and return to students.
Students will use the hand out for review for upcoming test.
4. I will have an open discussion for students and myself so I can
observe students and answer and ask any question about the lesson. |
|
|
G. Closure-
I will ask questions such as:
What is one thing you learned today.
What are functions of ___ body part?
Did you find anything difficult in today's lesson?
What did you enjoy most about today's lesson.
I will also discuss with the class what we will be doing in the future
that is apart of the lesson and what they need to focus on for quiz's
or test that are to come. |
|
|
7. Evaluation-
|
Quiz and test for students so that I am able to see where students
knowledge is and what I need to add or review to the lesson to help
students fully understand.
Also I will have a class discussion to help students review and so
that I can see who seems to have an understanding of the lesson and
who does not so that I can make changes to my lesson by either changing
or adding to the lesson.
|
|
|
8. Teacher Reflection-
|
What went well in this lesson?
-- Students really enjoyed learning about the human body. Learning
about how the body functions.
Problems I experienced ?
-- I experienced minor problems such as students unable to or unwilling
to drawing body parts because of lack or artistic skills.
My lesson was students centered and classroom based to help ensure
full understanding of the lesson and to benefit the students.
I will allow more paired group and group work so that students can
work together more in order to share ideas and knowledge. I have learned
that students really enjoy learning about the human body and how it
functions. I have learned that group work really helps students that
were struggling when they are placed with other students who seem
to understand more.
