1. Topic-
Why we need to use a space suit when going to the moon.

2. Content-
There is no atmosphere in the moon so we need to have our air and water carried around in the space suit. Also the moon is hot and the suns radiation is harmful so we need a space suit to protect us.

3. Goals: Aims/Outcomes-
1. The basic importance of a Space Suit.
2. Understanding of the moon conditions (environment).
3. Components of a space suit.

4. Objectives-
1.Students will enjoy this lesson.
2.Students will know what a space suit is.
3.Students will understand how the moon is.

5. Materials and Aids-
Sample pieces of a space suit, poster board with important facts, posters and pictures of a space suit.

6. Procedures/Methods-

A. Introduction-

1.Introduce myself to class
2.Why did Larry the cat need a space suit?
3. Why was the astronaut floating around everywhere?
4. How do you (the students) think the moon is like?

B. Development-

1.Demonstrate how it is if we were on the moon. (i.e.. slow motion, floating)
2.Explain how heavy a space suit is but why it is necessary (i.e.. the Moon is very hot and we need air to breath)
3.Show the students the pieces of the space suit and let them ask questions or state their comments.

C. Practice-

1.I will hand out a paper to everyone for them to take home and be able to color. It is a picture of Larry the cat in his space suit.
2. The poster will be colorful and grab their attention with pictures and big hand written with short statements or facts so everyone in the room can read (i.e.. teachers)

D. Independent Practice-

The students will read the space suit diagrams and function keys.

E. Accommodations (Differentiated Instruction)-

1.I will definitely make accommodations for the students to be able to see me and my poster because the planetarium has a big projector in the middle. I will be walking from side to side occasionally.
2.I will accommodate my time so that everyone has enough time to ask questions and to see the space suit.

F. Checking for understanding-

1.I will ask the students questions about what we just discussed to see if they understood the material.
2. I will allow them to ask questions to clear up their misunderstandings or concerns.
3. I will ask if they like the class and their opinion of it(i.e.. If they enjoyed it or what else would they have liked to learn)

G. Closure-

1.I will wrap up the class by letting them touch and see the pieces of the space suit.
2.Before leaving they will all try to walk like if they were in the moon wearing a heavy space suit.

7. Evaluation-
1.I would like to ask the teacher and supervisor their thoughts about the lesson.
2.I would like to hear their feedback and thought on how I could improve this lesson.
