1. Topic-
Artificial Insemination in Cattle

2. Content-
I will be telling how Artificial Insemination began, why it is used, and an overview on how it is performed in cattle.

3. Goals: Aims/Outcomes-
1. I hope to teach students why Artificial Insemination is the better choice to use in cattle rather than traditional breeding.
2. I hope to teach students an overview on how to properly inseminate.

4. Materials and Aids-
I will use a PowerPoint to assist me with teaching by the use of images and information that will benefit their learning. I will also show a short video at the end of the lesson to show the process of Artificial insemination in cattle.

5. Procedures/Methods-

A. Introduction-

1. I will start the lesson of my story about growing up on a dairy farm and performing artificial insemination. Later on in the lesson I will refer back to this story and tell the students how it improved our herd greatly.
2.I will begin the PowerPoint with an overview of the history of artificial insemination.
3.I will then move into why artificial insemination is used as opposed to traditional breeding.
4.I will finally go into the tools used in artificial insemination and how the process is carried out.

B. Development-

I have included both terms to describe the process and pictures so the students will get the full understanding of how artificial insemination is performed.

C. Practice-

I did not have a hands on activity for this class.

D. Independent Practice-

1.I will supply a PowerPoint to make note taking easier.
2. I will also give a short quiz at the end of the lesson to evaluate progress in learning.

E. Accommodations (Differentiated Instruction)-

1.I will show a video so they will get a different perspective on insemination and this video will show them the process of proper insemination.
. I will also bring an inseminating tool to give them a chance to see and understand the tools in a more realistic way.

F. Checking for understanding-

1.I will stop to ask if there are any questions throughout the lesson and I will give a chance for questions after the lesson.
2.I will also observe the class to see if they are understanding the topic as I teach.
3. Finally, I will give a short quiz to see their understanding of the lesson.

G. Closure-

1.I will ask if there are any questions on the lesson and then I will show the video.
2. After the video, I will give them a short quiz.

6. Evaluation-
1.The students participated and asked questions with interest of the topic.
2. They also scored well on their quizzes showing that they were paying attention and learning.

7. Teacher Reflection-
I believe this lesson was very informative to the students. Throughout the class I saw the understanding on the students faces and they all scored well on their quizzes showing me that they did learn. I believe that making a PowerPoint and showing them a little bit of the process also kept them interested in the subject. Showing them a video of a processional inseminater also helped their understanding also.
