1. Topic-
Forensic Science
 
2. Content-
I will describe the importance of Forensics through explaining fingerprinting, DNA analysis, fibers, and hairs.
 
3. Goals: Aims/Outcomes-
1.Help kids become more interested in Forensics.
2.Help kids learn more about the importance of Forensics.
3.Get kids interacted with the project and with others.
 
4. Objectives-
1.I hope to see the kids engaging in the activity with the fingerprinting.
2.I hope that the kids will understand the difficult concepts of my PowerPoint like the exchange principle and direct and indirect transfers of evidence.
3.I hope that within the class the children are polite and respectful to me while I am presenting and not talking to each other.
 
5. Materials and Aids-
The materials I will need are a camera, a PowerPoint, a brochure, a fingerprinting kit, a survey, a teacher reflection, and a flash drive.
 
6. Procedures/Methods-

A. Introduction-

1.Introduce myself.
2.Introduce my project.
3.Explain what I will be covering in my presentation.
 

B. Development-

1.Go through my PowerPoint
2.Work on the fingerprinting kit with the kids.
3.Pass out the survey.
 

C. Practice-

1.Practice PowerPoint in front of my brother.
2.Have my mother read over my PowerPoint to make sure there is no grammatical errors.
3.Have my English teacher go over my PowerPoint to check for any errors.
 

D. Independent Practice-

1.Go over my slides.
2.Gather extra information.
3.Practice fingerprinting.
 

E. Accommodations (Differentiated Instruction)-

1.If there is a child in a wheelchair I will place the student where they can see the presentation, and assist them with the fingerprinting.
2.If there is a child with Down Syndrome I will help the child understand the concept of forensics briefly and help them with the activity.
3.If one of the children gets sick in the class I will stop my presentation and get the child to the nurse.
 

F. Checking for understanding-

1.I will answer all the questions that the children have for me.
2.I will pass out a survey with questions for them to answer on it.
3.I will look and see if they are paying attention and engaging in the activity.
 

G. Closure-

1.I will collect the survey.
2.I will thank the class for listening to my presentation.
 
7. Evaluation-
1.I will be evaluated by the teacher of the class I am presenting to.
2.I will collect the surveys to see if the kids listen to my presentation.
 
8. Teacher Reflection-
The teacher will fill out a form that states that I have done my practice presentation and the teacher will also fill out one of the surveys.
