Learn about Animals including habitat, dangers, description, classification, where they live, are they endangered.
 
3. Goals: Aims/Outcomes-
1.To learn more about animals.
2.Appreciate animals and where they live.
3.Animals and experimentation.
 
4. Objectives-
1.Choose an animal from Adelaide zoo.
2. Each week student identifies through research information about the animal.
3.Students make a display of their information/research.
Last week-visit to Adelaide Zoo-student must find their animal and write down any further information gathered from zoo visit and take a photograph.
 
5. Materials and Aids-
1. Computer/Internet.
2. project Book.
Camera with batteries/memory card.
Pens/texts/pencils.
 
6. Procedures/Methods-

A. Introduction-

1.Students are informed about their project.
2. Students go onto Internet and researched which animals are at the Adelaide zoo.
3.Students chose one animal from adelaide Zoo to research.
Discuss trip to Zoo on last week of term.
 

B. Development-

1.Students learn about their chosen animal.
2. Students learn to appreciate conditions their animal is dealing with:habitat/hunters/experiments etc.
3.Students see their animal in life and get to take a photo to keep.
 

C. Practice-

1.Students research on Internet information.
2.Students see examples of projects.
 

D. Independent Practice-

1.Students can continue research at home or in a library after hours.
2. Students are encouraged to watch animal documentaries.
 

E. Accommodations (Differentiated Instruction)-

1.Assist any students who are not confident on the Internet
2. Supply books for information.
3.Assist with literacy when required.
 

F. Checking for understanding-

1. facilitator monitors progress of research weekly.
2. facilitator gives websites for research on a weekly basis.
3. facilitator asks if all students are understanding research and need Any help.
 

G. Closure-

Last week of term visit Adelaide Zoo, All students find their chosen animal and take a photo for keepsake.
