1. Students will express different ways that they have traveled
and ways that they have not traveled
2. Students will write proper sentences to describe different modes
of transportation they have used
3. Students will create an artistic expression of various sound words.
Ex: clickety click, rumble, splish splash |

5. Materials and Aids-
|
Copies of the text for each student, worksheets |

6. Procedures/Methods-
|
A. Introduction-
Introduce the topic: transportation. We will be reading a poem about
some different ways that people get around and then writing some of
the ways we have traveled We will then draw some artistic representations
of different moving sounds |

|
B. Development-
1. Show students what page they will need to turn to in their books
2. For writing activity: Put some examples on the board
3. For drawing activity: Show students where they need to write the
sound they are drawing and that we need to fill the space |
|
|
C. Practice-
1. Using popsicle sticks, choose 4 readers. Students can choose
to pass if they are uncomfortable reading in front of the class, but
must follow along in their books. Assist readers if they are struggling
with a word.
2. Assist students who are struggling during the writing activity.
Stress proper sentences and neat printing
3. Encourage color and detail in student art work |

D. Independent Practice-
1. Students will write 2 sentences about ways they have traveled
and 2 sentences about ways they have not traveled Ex: "I have flown
in a plane. I have not been on a boat."
2. Students will work independently on their art works |

E. Accommodations (Differentiated Instruction)-
1. Assist students who struggle
2. Encourage students who find the work easy to think of other ways
that people travel and help those who are struggling |

F. Checking for understanding-
Have students share their sentences and art work and explain why
they chose to draw what they drew |

Revisit the different modes of transportation |
