3. Goals: Aims/Outcomes-
1.Retain and understand the process of photosynthesis.
2.Understand the two parts to photosynthesis

4. Objectives-
1.Students will discuss the importance of photosynthesis
2.Students will discuss how the sun and light effects photosynthesis
3.Students will discuss the importance of chlorophyll

5. Materials and Aids-
-Four plants (Walmart; $20)
-Positional lamp (Walmart; $14)
-Vaseline (CVS; $3)
-Water (free)

6. Procedures/Methods-

A. Introduction-

1.Discuss what is photosynthesis
2.Discuss the important parts of photosynthesis(chloroplasts, chlorophyll, sun, light, etc.)
3.Discuss the significance of each part

B. Development-

1.Cover the leaves of one of the plants with Vaseline
2. Deprive one of the plants of the sunlight offered by the positioned lamp
3. Deprive another plant of water
4. Leave the other plant alone

C. Practice-

Observe plant's progression for two weeks

D. Independent Practice-

1. Students will measure growth of plants
2. Students will note any difference they see

E. Accommodations (Differentiated Instruction)-

1. Compare photosynthesis to baking cookies (mini lesson)
2. Read books and watch a video on photosynthesis
3.Review PowerPoint and take notes

F. Checking for understanding-

1. 5 question quiz
2. Create a "how-to" assessment that relates to photosynthesis

G. Closure-

1. Students will report their hypothesis of the plants and record their conclusions
2. Record reflections
