Recognizing animals,expressing ability and inability.
Key vocabulary:swim,jump,talk,fly/ Animals:Domestic animals(cat,dog,rabbit,bird...)
Wild Animals: (parrot,elephant,penguin, crocodile)
 
3. Goals: Aims/Outcomes-
1.Students can describe domestic and wild animals.
2.They can talk about ability and what animals can and can't do.
 
4. Objectives-
1.Students will be able to identify animals and actions.
2.They will be able to ask and answer questions about ability.
3.They will be able to sing a song about animals.
 
5. Materials and Aids-
Student's book,Flashcards of animals and actions,projector,songs,posters(crayons and cardboard),games.
 
6. Procedures/Methods-

A. Introduction-

1.Pretending to be an animal and asking students to guess them.(miming)
2.Showing the Flashcards on the board,saying and repeating.
 

B. Development-

1.Listening and singing the song about animals
2.Repeating activities
3.Listening and reading a dialogue in the student's book,naming the animals together.
 

C. Practice-

1.Then students will act out this dialogue in class.(role play)
2.Group games about animals and ability
 

D. Independent Practice-

Students will make their own animal posters.They will draw their animal on the cardboard,color it as they wish and they will present it to the class.(Describing)
 

E. Accommodations (Differentiated Instruction)-

1.The teacher can remind the students the lessons about pets from their second grade lessons.
2.Talking about possessions and pets (Do you have a cat?)
 

F. Checking for understanding-

1.Workbook activities
2.Asking questions about ability and animals to students then checking answers
3.Asking students to make a sentence with actions or animals.
 

G. Closure-

1.Playing and singing the animal song again
2.Revision of the key vocabulary with the student's book and Flashcards
 
7. Evaluation-
1.A quiz about actions and animals.
2.Students can prepare a finger puppet with an animal picture and present it to the teacher as a performance homework.
