In the following lesson, students will demonstrate an understanding
 
3. Goals: Aims/Outcomes-
1.Students will learn about spiders through research and power points they create and share. Information researched and presented will include the life cycle of spiders, their habitat, their function in nature, and their interaction with humans.
 
4. Materials and Aids-
1. Laptops
2. Worksheets
3. Dictionaries
4. Markers and crayons
5. Encyclopedias
 
5. Procedures/Methods-

B. Development-

1.Students will first see an example of a power point about a spider.
2. There will also be fact question sheets for students to fill out during the example presentation so they get the idea of what is expected.
 

C. Practice-

1.Students will complete worksheets and also
2.Students will break into groups of no more than 5
3.Each group will be given a spider to research and worksheet about the spider to complete.
4.The groups will have a computer to search for the answers by doing research
5.When they have completed the worksheet, they will highlight things that they did not know.
6.The groups will find an additional 5 facts that they did not know about spiders and present them to the class.
6.They will also write down any vocabulary words that they did not know prior to this lesson.
 

D. Independent Practice-

1.Each student will present at least 3 new facts they have learned to the teacher midway through the activity.
 

E. Accommodations (Differentiated Instruction)-

1.Students who require accommodations will be given extra time
2.Power points will help visual learners and hands on students.
3. There will be several worksheets available for students who need extra help or wish to do them instead.
 

F. Checking for understanding-

1.Students will take quizzes after each group presents their power point.
2. Students will play interactive games on Study Island that will send feedback to the instructor.
 

G. Closure-

The groups the students worked in will write a collaborative written report that explains why spiders are important.
 
6. Evaluation-
1.Students will be evaluated through research projects.
2. Students will also be evaluated by quizzes and tests.
