1.Identify and describe the six most common air pollutants
2.Identify health and environmental problems caused by the six infamous pollutants
3.Describe ways to reduce air pollution in their community
 
4. Objectives-
1.Completed research, using web sites and/or texts
2.Contributed to group presentation
3.Participation in tic-tac-toe games
 
5. Materials and Aids-
Game pieces for tic-tac-toe
Computers with Internet access and/or other air pollution reference materials
A variety of art materials for presentation props (Students should also contribute)
 
6. Procedures/Methods-

A. Introduction-

1.Read about Pollution
2.Identify The Six Infamous Pollutants
3.Break the class into 6 groups
 

B. Development-

1.Explain the group project and how every group has a different pollutant
2.Demonstrate how the game works
 

C. Practice-

1.Go and ask each group their ideas for the project and help them get started
2.Play the tic-tac-toe
 

D. Independent Practice-

Have them first research each of The Six Infamous Pollutants
 

E. Accommodations (Differentiated Instruction)-

If there are second language learners that are struggling put them in a group with strong leader or a ESL student of higher knowledge.
 

F. Checking for understanding-

1.After they all have gotten started with their projects, go and ask them if the understand their topic
2.Ask if they need help
 

G. Closure-

Have each group present their presentations.
 
7. Evaluation-
Ask questions over each group project after they are all finished presenting.
