Learning about turtles, their anatomy, their habitats and their importance!
 
3. Goals: Aims/Outcomes-
1. Students will learn about the anatomical structure of a turtle.
2. Students will be able to describe the life cycle of a turtle and it's habitat.
3. Students will learn what food is vital to their existence/
 
4. Objectives-
1. Students will complete a crossword puzzle assessing their understanding of the anatomical structure of a turtle.
2. Students will be able to read and create a poster about a turtles life cycle, habitat and interesting information about a specific type of turtle.
3. Students will make a "diet plan" for their turtles.
 
5. Materials and Aids-
Computer, Internet, Posterboards, Markers, Pencils, Crayons, Paper.
 
6. Procedures/Methods-

A. Introduction-

1. Students will first go to the Web Quest and will read the Introduction letting them know what they will be doing.
2. Students will group into pairs of 2-3 to work on the tasks together.
3. Students will write a letter informing the teacher of the importance of turtles.
 

B. Development-

1. Students will create a cross word puzzle on the anatomical structure of a turtle and will have a student complete it.
2. Students will create a poster on the life cycle, habitat, and other interesting facts about a specific turtle.
3. Students will create a diet plan for their turtle to show their understanding of the turtles food choices.
 

C. Practice-

1. Students will be guided through the steps of the Web Quest.
2. Students will be graded and assessed on their understanding of a turtles anatomy.
3. Students will write a letter showing their understanding of turtles.
 

D. Independent Practice-

1. Students will create a cross word puzzle on the anatomical structure of a turtle.
2. Students will create a poster on turtles.
3. Students will write a letter
 

E. Accommodations (Differentiated Instruction)-

1. ESE students will have further help completing the crossword puzzle.
2. ESE students will be accompanied while creating and finding information for the poster.
3. ESE students will be given a facts worksheet on turtles in order to write the letter.
 

F. Checking for understanding-

1. Students will create a cross word puzzle on their understanding of a turtle's anatomy.
2. Students will create a poster board on a turtles life cycle, habitat.
3. Students will write a diet plan for a turtle.
4. Students will write a letter informing of the importance of turtles.
 

G. Closure-

1. Collect the worksheet and crossword puzzle
2. Students will present their informative posters.
3. Students will hand in their letters.

1. Did students really learn about turtles? Was the Web Quest easy to use?
