3. Goals: Aims/Outcomes-

1.Students will be able to identify the names, the atomic number,
atomic mass and symbols of elements on the periodic table.

develop a basic understanding of the periodic table.

6. Procedures/Methods-
|
A. Introduction-
1.Students are asked do they know what the periodic table is used
for
2.Students are introduced to the periodic table with some brief history.
3.Review vocabulary of the elements.

B. Development-
Teacher will model how to find the answers on the cloze activity
sheet using the periodic table. (students may work in pairs) |

C. Practice-
Students will use the periodic table to find clues in matching the
crossword puzzle.(Students make work in pairs)
|
|
|
D. Independent Practice-
Students will use the periodic table to fill out their "Wanted"
poster on elements giving the name,atomic number,symbol and atomic
mass.

E. Accommodations (Differentiated Instruction)-
Students will be allowed to work in pairs to minimize behaviors,
take frequent breaks if needed, and given more time if needed. |

F. Checking for understanding-
Teacher will check for understanding based on student's interaction
and feedback |

Students will display and give an oral report of their wanted posters.
