2. Content-
Springs
Potential Energy
Kinetic Energy |
3. Goals: Aims/Outcomes-
1. Teach kids about the difference between potential and kinetic
energy.
2. The more force you put into a spring the more you will get out.
3. Plant a seed for future knowledge of Physics with parental oversight
and encouragement.
4. Kids learn while having fun. |
4. Objectives-
1. Students understand the difference between potential (waiting)
and kinetic (moving) energy.
2. Students are able to understand the effect of mass on the springs
ability move an object.
5. Materials and Aids-
Launcher
springs
diving board type spring |
6. Procedures/Methods-
A. Introduction-
1. Do you guys have any energy this morning? (say it is potential
and introduce springs)
B. Development-
1. Have students make predictions
2. Do a group demonstration
C. Practice-
1. Break class up into groups
2. Hands-on learning, student understanding (concept development) |
D. Independent Practice-
E. Accommodations (Differentiated Instruction)-
Teach two classes for a total of 28 students. |
F. Checking for understanding-
1. Students making predictions on handout
2. We will monitor their predictions |
G. Closure-
1. Do a wrap-up and have students make predictions.
2. Have letter for teacher to send home with students for parents. |
