3. Goals: Aims/Outcomes-
1.Explain the development of the Northwest Territory.
2.Explain the importance of the Battle of Tippecanoe. 3.Explain other key events and people that influenced Indiana's development
 
4. Objectives-
1.For the students to have a basic understanding of how Indiana became a state.
2.The students will have a worksheet to complete with multiple choice questions along with an essay question, and a map of the Indiana Territory.
3.I will provide a PowerPoint lecture on the key events and people that influenced Indiana's development. I will also provide a paper copy of the PowerPoint to students.
 
5. Materials and Aids-
A computer, White board or screen, worksheets, pencils, colored pencils, the PowerPoint paper copies, and a bulletin board size colored map of the Indiana Territory.
 
6. Procedures/Methods-

A. Introduction-

1.Introducing the subject of the Indiana Territory by showing the students a visual of a colored map that shows the boundaries during the time period.
2.Introducing the PowerPoint presentation.
 

B. Development-

1.As a class have the students color the Indiana Territory blue on the PowerPoint worksheet.
2.Ask the students questions as I am presenting the lecture.
 

C. Practice-

1.Have a students come up to the big map and point to the Indiana Territory.
2.Do one on the questions together on the homework assignment worksheet.
3.Ask the students if they have questions about the homework or the lecture.
 

D. Independent Practice-

1.The homework assignment worksheet on the Indiana Territory.
2.Vocubulary words - Key people and places associated with the Indiana Territory.
3.A map of the Indiana Territory.
 

E. Accommodations (Differentiated Instruction)-

1.For those students who need the worksheet will only have a and b to choose from on the multiple choice section, and they will be able to write two or three sentences on the essay part on the worksheet.
 

F. Checking for understanding-

1.Explaining the worksheets, doing one question in class.
2.Class discussion.
3.Asking the students if they understand the homework assignment.
 

G. Closure-

1.Answer any questions that pertain to the lesson.
2.Set aside time after class to answer questions for those students who still have questions about the assignment of lecture.
 
7. Evaluation-
1.Homework assignment: The worksheet and the map.
2.A quiz over the Indiana Territory at the end of the week.
