Title-
Revolutions of the World
 
Background-
This Lesson plan is a group project. Students will be put into groups. Each group will be assigned a revolution from the list below to research. This project will take place in class in groups and individually at home.
1. The French Revolution
2. The Haitian Revolution
3. The Iranian Revolution (Islamic Revolution, 1979)
4. The Russian Revolution of 1917
5. The Chinese Communist Revolution
 


Expected Outcome Of This Lesson Plan-
1.Students should obtain broader and deeper knowledge of political and military actions and changes throughout the world.
2.Students should be able to be able to compare and contrast the different revolutions and understand that most revolutions are similar at their core.
3.Students should learn how to work cooperatively and effectively in groups.
 
Teacher Objectives-
1.Each student will be responsible for a certain section of research for their revolution.
2.Each group will deliver a presentation on their revolution and each student will participate in their respective group presentation.
3.Each group will be responsible for making a 10 question multiple choice quiz for their Revolution.

Teaching Methods-

1. Lesson Introduction-

1.I will explain what a revolution is and what it usually consists of.
2.I will use the American Revolution as an example to explain and show them what i want from their research and presentations.
 

2. Lesson Progression-

The research and presentations of the revolutions should include but include, but are not restricted to answering the following questions.
1.Where did the revolution occur?
2.When did the Revolution occur?
3.Who were the parties involved, on both sides?
4.What were the reasons for revolution?
5.Was there a particular action that sparked the the revolution to begin? If yes what was it?
8.Were there any negotiations that went on? If yes, describe them.
9.What was the conclusion of the Revolution?
 

3. Guided Practice-

1.The class will spend one period in the computer lab where they will print articles on their revolutions.
2.The class will spend one period in library to find and check out books to help their research for their revolutions
3.The students will work in their groups during class to put together their presentations and quizzes.
 

4. Student Practice-

Students will be expected to do a research on their free time to complete the project.
 

5. Learner Accommodations-

None are needed.

6. Assessment-

Each group will hand in an outline for their presentation and the quiz that they will be making. I will make sure that these are adequately prepared so that the most possible learning occurs from the presentations. I will then hand them back with comments and possible suggestions for improvement.
 

7. Lesson Closure-

1.Each group will give a 5-7 minute presentation on their revolution. Other students will be expected to take notes.
2.The quizzes from each group will be combined into a test for the entire class to take.
 
Measuring Student Progress-
1.The groups will be graded on the clarity and completeness of their presentations. The presentations should answer the questions asked in the development section of the lesson plan.
2.The students will also be graded on the test that they collectively made.
