Expected Outcome Of This Lesson Plan-
1.Explain how Axis powers came to control Europe but failed to control Britian
2. Summarize the invasion of the Soviet Union by Germany.
3. Explain the Allied Advances and how they began to push back the Axis powers.
4. Describe D-day, the allied advancement toward Germany and Japan
5. Ending War against Japan
 
Teacher Objectives-
1.Students will learn how the Axis powers were able to conquer much of Europe.
2. Students will learn about major battles.
3. Students will learn the way that the Allies officially ended the war.

Teaching Methods-

1. Lesson Introduction-

1. Bellringer: Read a World War II soldier's experience; discuss this with students 2. Utilize blogging to find out how much students know about WWII
 

2. Lesson Progression-

1. Teach about war through lecture(powerpoint).
2. Use Google Maps to show the countries that were conquered by the Axis powers and where battles were fought.
3.Film Clip of WWII battles
 

3. Guided Practice-

1.Let students answer questions about World War II working with a group.
2. Have students compare and contrast World War II and the War in Iraq.
 

4. Student Practice-

1.Students must use the internet to research a particular battle to present to the class on a later date.
 

5. Learner Accommodations-


Spatial: the use of maps
Linguistic: Worksheet on WW II or lecture
Musical: Film/Audio clips of WW II battles.
Logical/Math: Charts in textbook which show the amount of casualties that derived from WW II, we will discuss this while comparing and contrasting WWII and the War in Iraq.
Technology: discussing the difference in technology in World War II and the War in Iraq.
Intra-personal- research project
interpersonal- the presentation of their research and the collaboration while working on their worksheet.
 

6. Assessment-

1. Students must express to me 3 different ideas that they have learned from the lesson. They can express the ideas through art, a rap, or a written essay.
2. 5 question quiz on the battles the next day.
 

7. Lesson Closure-

1. Ask true or false questions that test basic knowledge of what was discussed that day. All students must participate by rasing their hands.
