9 Questions every potential pet owner should ask before they buy.
 
3. Goals: Aims/Outcomes-
1. Understand the 9 questions that you should ask before you buy a pet.
2. Understand why it is important to be a responsible pet owner.
3. Examine different areas that you can obtain a pet from.
 
4. Objectives-
3.1: Develop a list of important factors to consider when choosing a pet.
3.2: Compare different sources for obtaining a pet.
3.3: Summarize the skills and management practices displayed by a responsible pet owner.
 
5. Materials and Aids-
computer, laptop, dry erase board, markers, etc.
 
6. Procedures/Methods-

A. Introduction-

1. How many of you either own a pet or plan on getting one soon?
2. Did you really think about it before you bought that animal or are you thinking about it right now? Did you just dive in and buy it?
3. We must all understand that much thought should be given before you buy a pet. Every potential pet owner should ask their-self 9 questions. These 9 questions will help you decide if you're ready for a pet, or it will help you decide what type of pet you can get/handle at this time.
 

B. Development-

1. Examine the 9 questions that every potential pet owner should ask.
2. List the reasons on why these are important questions to ask yourself.
 

C. Practice-

1. Get into groups and list 4 out of the 9 questions and then proceed to answer them.
2. I will float around to each group and aid them with any questions they might have.
 

D. Independent Practice-

1. After group work, each student will go back to their own seat and answer 6 out of the 9 questions.
2. After they have answered the question, they will go in front of the group and explain what they put.
3. After they have presented, they will list 3 of the best possible pets they could have at this time.
 

E. Accommodations (Differentiated Instruction)-

Reteach will be the most prominent DI used since it is a short lesson.
 

F. Checking for understanding-

1. Once the students are either put into groups or do it individually, I will be able to examine if they understand the material.
2. If they don't understand the material, then I will reteach the material to them.
 

G. Closure-

"Please remember that you don't need to just go out and buy a new pet without thinking. Think this stuff out and realize that you don't always need a huge dog...maybe a hamster would do just fine.
 
7. Evaluation-
A short quiz will be given over the 9 questions.
