2. Provide appropriate home care recommendations with 100% accuracy
3. Reschedule patient appropriately when required.
4. Explain recommendations to instructor and patient.
5. Understand patient needs and make appropriate recommendations based on those needs.
6. Document findings with 100% accuracy.
7. Discuss any concerns with hygiene instructor.

6. Procedures/Methods-

A. Introduction-

1. Introduction of self and credentials.

B. Development-

1. Check patients before student begins prophylaxis. (5 minutes)
2. Discuss findings (5 minutes)
3. Discuss recommendations. (5 minutes)
 

C. Practice-

1. Complete dental hygiene care on patient (60-90 minutes).
2. Complete needed radiographs. (10 minutes)
3. Have dentist complete examination( 10 minutes)
 

D. Independent Practice-

1. Review and Evaluate medical history.
2. Evaluate plaque removal.
3. Evaluate calculus removal.
(15-20 minutes)
 

E. Accommodations (Differentiated Instruction)-

If no show patients, then assist a classmate, direct clinic checks, sterilization area, check for other needed task.
 

F. Checking for understanding-

1. Complete charting
2. Complete prophylaxis
3. Complete home care instructions.
4. Reappoint as needed.

Provide for time for any questions
