The students will be given the assignment of creating a concept
map to analyze Quality Control. |

1. To understand what they perceive as "quality".
2. To understand that everyone has a different opinion as to what
quality is.
3. Students will have a basic understanding of quality control from
the course text.
4. To understand how to create and use a concept map to analyze quality. |

4. Objectives-
|
1. Students will understand what quality means to themselves.
2. Students will understand that quality means different things to
different people.
3. Students will use the course text to learn quality control.
4. Students will create a concept map to analyze quality. |

5. Materials and Aids-
|
1. Students will each have a computer.
2. Students will have access to the Internet.
3. Students will have the course text.
4. Students will have Inspiration software to aid in the creation
of a quality control concept map.
5. Students will share an overhead projector to share different opinions
of quality. |

6. Procedures/Methods-
|
A. Introduction-
1. First we will discuss "what does quality mean to you?"
2. Next, each student will pick an industry where quality should be
present.
3. Also, I would add real world examples involving quality.
4. Last, have the students use Inspiration to create a quality control
concept map using their own ideas and their classmates. |

B. Development-
1. I will have a concept map example available to them for reference.
2. They will be allowed to use their course text during the exercise.
3. I will encourage the students to share their quality control topics
with one another. |

|
C. Practice-
1. Students will display their concept maps using the overhead projector.
2. Students will use the Internet., their text books, and themselves
for reference material.
3. Students will each create a unique concept map of quality control. |

D. Independent Practice-
1. Students will be allowed to use personal graphics for node definition.
2. Students will be able to add or subtract quality content as the
class progresses. |

E. Accommodations (Differentiated Instruction)-
Students will have themselves, their text books, and myself to aid
in their concept map creation. |

|
F. Checking for understanding-
1. I will be walking around to each student answering questions.
2. Students will provide feedback to each other as they use the overhead
projector. |

G. Closure-
1. I will display my own concept map using the overhead projector
and discuss my thoughts on quality.
2. Students will reflect on what they have learned. |

7. Evaluation-
|
1. I will provide a rubric at the completion of the assignment.
2. I will note student involvement during the overhead projector portion
of the class. |

8. Teacher Reflection-
|
I will compare all concept maps including my own to what the text
defines as quality control and grade each student accordingly. |
