|
New early childhood professionals, and caregivers will be provided
with basic training on transportation and child passenger safety for
child care centers. |

3. Goals: Aims/Outcomes-
|
1. Participants will be able to identify health and safety hazards
when transporting children.
2. Participants will be made aware of incidents of death or injury
due to forgetting or leaving children unattended in a vehicle.
3. Participants will have the resources to have car seats installed
and inspected by trained car seat technicians. |

|
1. Learners will be advocates for child passenger safety.
2. Learners will ensure the safety of children in their care.

5. Materials and Aids-
|
7 in 10 Article, Phoenix Children's Hospital Kids and Cars Website,
Every Child Every Trip, every student must have access to the online
lesson in its presented format. |

6. Procedures/Methods-
|
A. Introduction-
1. Learners will take a pre-course non-graded quiz to gage pre learning
knowledge.
2. Learners will be given the correct answers at the end of the quiz./
3. After the quiz, learners will watch a pre-recorded lecture from
the instructor about transportation safety. |

B. Development-
1. Online lecture about the dangers of cars; both in motion and
parked.
2. Video on transportation and car seat safety |

C. Practice-
1.Discussion Board topic "What resources do you know of that you
can share with caregivers"
2. Discussion Board topic "How can we keep kids safe around cars?"

D. Independent Practice-
1. Literature Review - Find five articles about the dangers of cars
and create a literature review to share with classmates.
