3. Goals: Aims/Outcomes-
Students will be immersed in a unit from the colonization of the 13 colonies to the American Revolution.
 
4. Objectives-
1.Students will identify each of the 13 colonies.

2.Students will sequence the events that lead the American Revolution.


3.Students will compare and contrast the government of the 13 Colonies versus today's government.
 
5. Materials and Aids-
Computers, SmartBoard, Internet Access,email access, Mini HP Lab, printer
 
6. Procedures/Methods-

A. Introduction-

1.Introduce the 13 colonies using 13 Colonies Historical events in MRNUSSBAUM.
2.Show Discovery Education Video The American Revolution: From Colonies to Constitution
3.Discuss what the finished product might look like.
 

B. Development-

1.Use classroom text to read section on American Revolution (Chapter 10)
2.Watch American Revolution on BrainPop, take quiz, then email results to teacher.
 

C. Practice-

1.Read Cause and Effect in French and Indian War (MRNUSSBAUM). Go through quiz after reading.
2.Revolutionary War Timeline Decoding. Printable activity.
3.Using SmartBoard and surround sound, together we will watch The Revolution video on youtube.com
 

D. Independent Practice-

1.Make a map of 13 colonies that outlines battles of the Revolutionary War using mygreatmaps.com.
2.Make a Venn Diagram comparing/contrasting 13 colonies government and current government using SmartBoard gallery.
3.Develop timeline leading up to the American Revolution using MRNUSSBAUM timeline generator.
 

E. Accommodations (Differentiated Instruction)-

1.ELL students will use Bookshare.org to read the content.
2.Groups will each have 1 team leader to organize project.
 

F. Checking for understanding-

1.Students will take the chapter 10 post test.
2.Students will email 5 Big Ideas they've learned in the unit.
 

G. Closure-

Students will share with their peers one of their project which would be a map, Venn Diagram or Timeline.
 
7. Evaluation-
1.Teacher will grade test and evaluate projects using rubric.
2.Students will score their projects using a rubric made at beginning of unit.
 
8. Teacher Reflection-
In the mirror after this unit...haggard!
