4. Objectives-
|
1.To ensure students can recall dates and details. Columbia's arrival
to America, 1492. Washington, first U.S President, 1789. Lincoln's
assassination, and the 13th Amendment that outlawed slavery, 1865.
2.To ensure students can recognize who Columbus, Washington,and Lincoln
are,whether they are placed on currency, or future lessons.
3.To ensure students understand the important role Columbus, Washington
and Lincoln in building America. |

5. Materials and Aids-
|
Costumes for students.
Note cards for students initial identification of founding fathers.
Lined sheets for written information students collect during lesson.
Independent worksheets for matching photographs to information.

6. Procedures/Methods-
|
A. Introduction-
1. Students are told they can ask questions as their costumed classmates
walk around.
2. Students will be silent as the teacher shares information about
founding fathers.
3. Students are told to write on a notecard their initial identification
of founding fathers. |

|
B. Development-
1. Selected students wear costumes, and move among their peers.
2.Information about costumes and identity of founding fathers are
given.
3. Students wearing costumes read their scripts. I am ____ I did _____
in _____ . |

C. Practice-
1. Students will be placed in three groups.
2.Each group will concentrate on one founding father for 10 minutes,
and then switch to another until they all have a chance with all the
costumed students.
3.Students will write details and what they think about the founding
fathers. |

D. Independent Practice-
Students will work on their worksheets,of matching photographs to
information. |
|
|
E. Accommodations (Differentiated Instruction)-
Students with ADHD will wear costumes and move among their peers,and
read from their scripts, keeping them active and learning at the same
time. |

F. Checking for understanding-
Students are asked questions.
