After studying Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I Have a Dream" speech, students create a poster about their dreams for the future.
 
3. Goals: Aims/Outcomes-
1.To have students complete their own dream poster
2.Relate the dream's of Dr. King to their own.
 
4. Objectives-
1.Define the word dream
2.Study Dr. King's "I Have a Dream" Speech.
 
5. Materials and Aids-
1.Copy of Dr. King's "I Have a Dream" speech from a print, an audio, a visual, or an online source
2.Paper
3.Pens or pencils
4.Different colored construction paper or tagboard
5.Markers, crayons, or paint
 
6. Procedures/Methods-

A. Introduction-

1.Read Dr. King's "I Have a Dream Speech"
2.Ask students how the speech made them feel.
 

B. Development-

1.Discuss the meaning of the word dream. Ask students to think about Dr. King's dreams and their own dreams for the future. Ask students to write a few sentences or a short paragraph about their dreams.
2.Distribute construction paper or tagboard and art materials so students can create a poster with an image and words to depict their dreams.
 

C. Practice-
