3. Goals: Aims/Outcomes-
1. To introduce the students to the three tribes.
2. To discuss where the tribes lived in Arkansas.
3. To discuss the types of houses the tribes lived in.
4. To discuss how the tribes got their food.
 
4. Objectives-
1.After this lesson, the students will be more aware of the three main Native American Tribes in Arkansas in the 1600s.
2.The students will be given a worksheet to demonstrate their understanding of these tribes.
 
5. Materials and Aids-
Laptop Computer
Projector
Screen
PowerPoint Presentation that is titled: The Three Main Native American Tribes in Arkansas in the 1600s - created by Sandy Gentry (I have attached a paper copy to these plans).
 
6. Procedures/Methods-

A. Introduction-

After reviewing the previous day's lesson about the Plum Bayou tribe, I will show a slide of the three tribes and ask if anyone knows who these people are.
 

B. Development-

1. I will continue the PowerPoint presentation, discussing each of the tribes.
2. We will discuss each tribe individually.
3. Next, we will compare them all together.
 

C. Practice-

1. The students will review with the final slide.
2. The students may ask questions or make comments before the worksheet is given out.
3. The students will given out a worksheet about the three tribes.
 

D. Independent Practice-

1. I will go over the directions for the worksheet (I have attached a copy these plans).
2. The students will fill out the chart on the worksheet. The chart consists of the name of each tribe, where they lived in Arkansas, how they got food, and what types of houses they lived in.
 

E. Accommodations (Differentiated Instruction)-

On the reverse side of the worksheet is information about each tribe.
 

F. Checking for understanding-

I will grade the worksheet and see how much each child knew about the three tribes presented.
 

G. Closure-

We will review the graded worksheets and answer any questions that the students may have.
 
7. Evaluation-
This is one lesson in our Arkansas Unit, so the students will be tested at the end of the unit.
