Christopher Columbus:His arrival 1492, George Washington: First
U.S President,1789, and Abraham Lincoln: assassinated and outlawed
slavery in 1865. |

3. Goals: Aims/Outcomes-
|
1.To make history fun through theater, and role playing.
2.To keep ADHD students active and at the same time learning.
3.To have students recall information about Columbus, Washington,
and Lincoln. |

4. Objectives-
|
1.to ensure students can recall dates and details about Founding
fathers.
2.To ensure students understanding of Columbus, Washington, and Lincoln,
and the role they played in building America.
3.To ensure students are able to recognize Columbus, Washington, and
Lincoln, whether they are on currency or in future lessons. |

5. Materials and Aids-
|
Costumes for students portraying, Columbus, Washington, and Lincoln.
Five dollar bill to show Lincoln.
One dollar bill to show Washington.
Note-cards.
Sheets of lined paper for students to write.
Independent worksheets of matching founding fathers to correct information. |

|
6. Procedures/Methods-
|
A. Introduction-
1.Students are told they can ask questions while their classmates
in costumes walk around.
2.Students are told they are to be silent and listen as information
is being taught.
3. Student will be told to write on a note-card their initial identification
of Founding fathers.
4.students are told they will be put in three groups at the end of
the lesson.
Time frame,5mins. |

B. Development-
1.Students in costumes will read from script, I am ..... I helped
built America by......
2.Students are given information by teacher as costumed students rotate
around the classroom.
Students are ask to write what they recall about founding fathers.
Time frame 20mins. |

C. Practice-
Students are placed in three groups, and one at a time costumed
students rotate among the groups, 5mins each.
Washington and Lincoln will have their currency to show group.

|
|
D. Independent Practice-
Students work on their worksheet, matching photographs to information. |
|
|
E. Accommodations (Differentiated Instruction)-
Special needs students (ADHD)are asked to wear costumes and move
around the classroom, keeping them active while learning. |
|
|
F. Checking for understanding-
Teacher will ask questions.

3.Lincoln was assassinated in the year....?

G. Closure-
Teacher will review content, and commend students for being respectful
and good learners. |
