A. Introduction-
Pose EQ: How does making connections to our lives help us understand
text?
Introduce the concept of readers theater.
Has anyone ever been to a play, or been IN a play? If so, describe
it. |

B. Development-
Raise your hand if you know any facts about the Amazon river.
What is a river? Who knows where the Amazon is located?
Discuss vocabulary words that will be in the passage and show corresponding
pictures using AVERKEY. |

C. Practice-
Read the title and make predictions based on what you already know
about the Amazon River now that we've seen pictures and talked about
vocabulary.
Students will first read through the comprehension questions and high
light/underline/circle key words.
Students will read the selection aloud. |
