3. Students will know how the Charter will protect Canadians.

1. Learn the Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
2. Learn the history of the Charter of Rights & Freedoms.
3. Learn how the Charter protects Canadians now & then.
 
5. Materials and Aids-
Taking Part in Our Democracy: Chapter 5
 
6. Procedures/Methods-

A. Introduction-

1.Review any prior knowledge of the Canadian Rights & Freedoms.
2.Introduce the Charter of Canadian Rights & Freedoms.
3.Apply the Charter to our daily lives.
 

B. Development-

1. Review, by asking questions to the class
2. Shared Reading
3. Class Activity
 

C. Practice-

1. Shared reading, we will read as a class and then assigned.
2. Activity, maple leafs writing one right we have.
3. Emphasize the important information for PAT's to study.
 

D. Independent Practice-

1. Transfer of shared reading to independent reading.
2. Activity, they will think of their own right for their maple leaf.
3. Independent Reading.
 

E. Accommodations (Differentiated Instruction)-

1.I will provide an equal opportunity for all students to get involved.
2. If the time exceeds on the activity but if students are engaged we will still proceed on with the activity.
 

F. Checking for understanding-

Ask students review questions pertaining to the material we have just learned.
 

G. Closure-

1. Quick over view and summary of what we have learned.
2. Answer any questions.

Review Multiple Choice Test at the end of the Chapter 5.
