3. Goals: Aims/Outcomes-
1.Children will learn about the geography of St. Vincent.
2.Children will know the customs and culture of St.Vincent.
 
Materials and Aids-
Scissors, glue, markers,crayons/paint,paper, colorful construction paper, Book: "Anansi the Spider"
 
Procedures/Methods-

A. Introduction-

1.I will first ask the children if they know what is a country?
2.I will explain to the students that there are several countries in the West Indies and St.Vincent is a country in the West Indies.
3. I will then read a book call "Anansi the spider" I will explain to the children this is a folktale read to the children in St. Vincent in their schools and homes.
 

B. Development-

1. I will explain to the students that each country has its own flag, then I will show a flag of St. Vincent and announce the colors of the flag are blue, yellow and green.
2.the children will then create their own flag of St. Vincent by cutting out the patterns then paste it on the construction paper.
 

C. Practice-

1.Students will plant different foods from St. Vincent then they will identify a sequence of events that takes place after the seeds of different foods are planted to understand that seeds need certain things to grow into a plant
2.students will identify the changes involved in seed growth
 

D. Independent Practice-

1. We will discuss the type of customs in St.Vincent such as carnival
2. Students will graph the different types of activities that takes place during carnival
3. Then students will use the graph to see which event the class would most likely attend.
 

E. Accommodations (Differentiated Instruction)-

Some students will put in the missing colors from an uncolored flag of St. Vincent.
 

F. Checking for understanding-

1.I will then ask questions pertaining to St. Vincent to see how much hey remember
2. Go over vocabulary words
 

G. Closure-

1.Explain to students that there are many other countries in the West Indies and St. Vincent is just one of many
2. Next week we will be studying another country
