A. Introduction-

1. Present activities considered leisure during Victorian Era
2. Present social issues that may have shaped the activities determined as leisure
3. Examine the discrepancies between the sexes during leisure activity
 

B. Development-

1. Include pictures/political cartoons
2. Include primary sources accounts of leisure
3. Include some detail drawing connections between the activities and the real implications behind them - allowing for the class to continue the discussion
 

C. Practice-

1. Break into groups to discuss what the real reason for football being a sport is
2. Regroup for answers and a class discussion about gender roles/dichotomy
 

Checking for understanding-

Use class discussion to gage students understanding of the concept as being much bigger than "having fun." Also use discussion to gage students understanding of separate spheres ideology/gender dichotomy in Victorian England.

1. End with discussion
