3. Goals: Aims/Outcomes-
1.Student will identify the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World
2.Student will discuss the architecture features of each Wonder
3.Student will understand how architecture is a reflection of culture
4. Student will convert the experience of a virtual tour into a live classroom museum experience
 
4. Objectives-
1. Student will match a picture of each Wonder with the correct name.
2. Student will create a mini representation of assigned Wonder
3. Student will prepare a brief narrative on assigned Wonder
 
5. Materials and Aids-
Note taking materials (paper, writing utensil, etc)
Electronic device with Internet connection for research
 
6. Procedures/Methods-

A. Introduction-

1. Describe the most beautiful place you ever visited.
2. Discuss natural vs. manmade beauty.
 

B. Development-

1. Discuss visiting a museum or going on a tour and the role of a guide
2. Display a painting on projector and offer a brief description
3. Explore a portion of a virtual tour website and evaluate as a class, discussing strengths and weaknesses of the tour
 

C. Practice-

1. Assign Wonder to students
2. Direct students to unmuseum.org for a virtual tour and for use as an information source
 

D. Independent Practice-

1.Student will make a model of assigned Wonder
2. Student will write a brief researched narrative of assigned Wonder
3. Student will prepare an oral presentation of assigned Wonder
 

E. Accommodations (Differentiated Instruction)-

1. Partner/small groups allowed
2. Allow use of notecards for final presentation
3. Provide alternative resources for research according to reading levels
 

F. Checking for understanding-

1. Teacher will monitor progress of all portions of the project
2. Teacher will remind student of the expected outcome throughout the project
3. Teacher will collect and edit rough draft copies of written narrative
 

G. Closure-

1.Completed models will be displayed in a museum style exhibit.
2.Student will take on the role of museum guide and share what they have learned about their assigned Wonder.
3. Students will rotate and "visit" all the sites of the class museum
 
7. Evaluation-
1.Completion and evaluation of model
2. Completion and evaluation of written narrative
3. Demonstration of knowledge about assigned Wonder from oral presentation and ability answer related questions
 
8. Teacher Reflection-
One concern regarding this project is the availability of resources for students to complete models. This could be an expensive project for the teacher if materials must be provided.
