1. Topic-
Focus and Attention

2. Content-
Placing Beads on Peg Board to Form the Proper Pattern

3. Goals: Aims/Outcomes-
The student will be able to concentrate on playing with just one toy (bead toy) and accomplishing the specific task that toy requires (forming a whole bead pattern)

4. Objectives-
The student will:
1. identify a specific pattern to follow
2. choose beads that suit the pattern one-by-one
3. place beads in their proper place on the peg one-by-one
4. play with the toy until he has completed the pattern

5. Materials and Aids-
Bead Toy

6. Procedures/Methods-

A. Introduction-

During Free Play, enthusiastically present the bead toy to Arthur. (Ex. "Look at this toy, Arthur. I think this is a fun toy! This is a bead toy.")

B. Development-

Show him the parts of the toy one-by-one while explaining how they are to be used or how the toy should be played. While explaining, model the use of the toy. (Ex. "It has beads, it has a peg board, and it has different patterns! What pattern do you like? I think what we're supposed to do is this...") Show Arthur to first put the pattern on the table, then put the peg board over it, and finally, model how the beads are to be placed on the peg board based on the pattern underneath. Make sure Arthur is interested and listening. Call his attention by turning his head and/or body and telling him to look if he is not.

C. Practice-

Then, allow Arthur to try. Give him a bead and ask him where the bead should go. Do this until he understands the toy's procedure. (Ex. "Here, you try. Where do you think this bead should go?) If procedure is still not understood, model it once again and then ask him to try again after. Once procedure is understood, prompt Arthur to pick the beads by himself and ask him if he knows where those beads should go.

D. Independent Practice-

Have Arthur finish the bead pattern by himself. ("Now that you know what to do, can you show teacher that you can finish the pattern on your own?")

E. Accommodations (Differentiated Instruction)-

Only present the beads necessary for Arthur to accomplish the pattern.

F. Checking for understanding-

Have Arthur work without any prompts (physical or verbal).

G. Closure-

Ask Arthur to pack away the toy once he has completed the pattern.

7. Evaluation-
Arthur can finish bead pattern without teacher's instructions.
