Subject: Welding
1. Topic-
Metal Fusion

2. Content-
BUILD A WORK OF ART BY WAY OF METAL FUSION

3. Goals: Aims/Outcomes-
1.Students will know how to join mild steel by way of metal fusion.
2.Students will know how to light and properly mix oxygen and acetylene gasses.
3.Students will build a a basic work of art of their choice by fusing various metals together
4. students will know and be able to demonstrate the proper use of the required personal protective equipment.

4. Objectives-
1.To let the students make anything of their choice out of recycled metal
2.To gain knowledge of materials and there properties
3.To gain a sense of pride with creating something unique.

5. Materials and Aids-
-Recycled metal of any kind
-new metal

6. Procedures/Methods-

A. Introduction-

1.Define fusion
2.Introduce the oxygen and acetylene gasses

B. Development-

1.Show the students as a group how to properly mix the two gasses.
2.Demonstrate to the class how to make a puddle in the metal with everyone wearing their proper PPE.
3.take two pieces of metal and fuse them together with the students watching

C. Practice-

1.Give the each student two pieces of pre cut metal, pair them up and one pair at a time let them try it themselves with myself and the other students watching.
2. Once everyone has given it a try , separate them into groups of two in the booths so they can practice.

D. Independent Practice-

1.Have the students try to find scarp steel from their local landfill site.
2.Tell them to start to think about something of their choice that they want to create
3.Challenge the students to try to think of something unique.

E. Accommodations (Differentiated Instruction)-

1.Stress safety when working with welding materials
2.Show them something that I have made and encourage them to try something like mine

F. Checking for understanding-

1.walk around the class, ask them if they enjoy what they were doing and if not, what do they want to try.
2.Check over everyone's work and make sure everyone in the class is on the right track.

G. Closure-

1.Last ten minutes of class set aside for clean up as a group.
2.Answer any quick questions the students may have as there are leaving.

7. Evaluation-
Look at the activity they were doing and assess which students need more help with it and try to pair the stronger students with the weaker ones for the next class.

8. Teacher Reflection-
Hopefully I will be able to reflect on how well the class went ant that the students seemed eager and interested in the lesson.
