Subject: Science-Research Project |
1. Topic-
Create a multimedia presentation to share information about a world
biome |
2. Content-
Biome
Geography
Climate
Animal and plant adaptation
Prezi presentation tool
Vocabulary: Taiga, Tropical Rainforest, Deciduous Forest, Grassland,
Savanna, Desert, Tundra. |
3. Goals: Aims/Outcomes-
1.Students will demonstrate knowledge of their assigned biome, which
will include: location, climate, one adaptation each, of two animals
and two plants that live in biome.
2. Students will organize and summarize ideas into their own words.
3. Students will incorporate images and/or videos that are appropriate
to their topic
4. Students will demonstrate proficiency in using Prezi multimedia
tool. |
4. Objectives-
1.Students will create an original work as a means of personal expression
2. Students will communicate information and ideas effectively to
multiple audiences using a variety of media and formats.
3. Students will understand and use technology systems. |
5. Materials and Aids-
Computers with Internet access (1:1)
Multimedia planners created during previous session organizing layout
and detailing content for each Prezi frame
Website: www.prezi.com
Multimedia planner handouts
Citation templates
Projector
White screen
Sample:final Prezi product
6. Procedures/Methods-
A. Introduction-
1. Teacher introduces objectives of today's lesson (learn Prezi
and create presentation on their research topic).
2.[projector, teacher computer, whiteboard] Teacher navigates to www.prezi.com
and explains Prezi is a cloud-based multimedia-presentation tool that
allows students to incorporate text, images, video, narration, and
music to present their ideas.
B. Development-
1.Teacher displays sample of a final product.
2.Teacher introduces Prezi interface and models step-by-step process
of creating a Prezi frame. |
C. Practice-
Referring to multimedia planners, students follow along with teacher
to create first frame of their projects (teacher's screen projected
to whiteboard). |
D. Independent Practice-
Students create rest of their frames independently.
E. Accommodations (Differentiated Instruction)-
1. Struggling work on independent project seated next to partner.
2. Expectations for number of elements required for struggling students
will be adjusted on an individual basis. |
F. Checking for understanding-
1. Teacher will circulate room during activity to check for understanding
2.Final products will be shared with class at end of project for teacher
and peer review.
3. Teacher: formal assessment based on Biome Project rubric (distributed
to students at start of project).
G. Closure-
Class discussion reviewing the characteristics of each biome and
some of the adaptations that allowed animals and plants of the regions
to survive.
7. Evaluation-
