2. Content-
Microsoft Excel Spreadsheet Applications

3. Goals: Aims/Outcomes-
1.Apply Microsoft Excel Spreadsheet Applications to create a 17"x22" poster based on a favorite piece of literature
2.set up a page to print poster correctly
 
4. Objectives-
1.Students will be able to open the MS Excel program
2.Students will be able to use the insert tab to apply WordArt and text boxes
3.Students will be able to use page setup according to directions to create the size of their poster
4. Students will be able to apply formatting to their document to enhance it.
5.Students will be able to re-size WordArt and text boxes
6.Students will be able to save images to the computer 7.Students will be able to insert a saved image(s) to a document.
8.Students will be able to select specified cells for formatting.
9.Students will be able to format selected cells with a border and a color

5. Materials and Aids-
Computers with MS Office Suite and Internet access,printers,SmartBoard or projector for demonstration and instruction,handouts with instructions and terminology

 
6. Procedures/Methods-

A. Introduction-

1.Show the printed out Romeo and Juliet poster to the class and announce that they will all be creating a poster to accompany their book report.
2.Direct students to conduct Internet search of images needed for the poster.
3. instruct students to save those to a folder on the computer.
 

B. Development-

1.Instructor opens MS Excel and displays on projector or Smartboard
2.Students open Excel
3.direct students step by step while giving time for each student to complete each before proceeding to the next.
4.Printing step will not be included in this demonstration.
5. Instructor completes all steps except for printing to allow for student practice.
 

C. Practice-

1.Students exit out of Excel and open another spreadsheet.
2.Students follow instructions on handout and/or projection screen
3. Instructor walks around classroom guiding individuals through the process including printing using print preview to edit.
 

D. Independent Practice-

Students are instructed to create a final poster for printing. Students must start from the beginning, including finding and saving new images and printing correctly.
 

E. Accommodations (Differentiated Instruction)-

1.Directions printed, projected,and spoken.
2.Individual instruction as needed.
3.Microsoft accessibility options available
 

F. Checking for understanding-

1.Rubric with objectives provided for students to self assess and edit.
2.Rubric with objectives for teacher to provide feedback to students
3.Points are assigned to each objective for grading
 

G. Closure-

1.Class discussion and questions regarding the process of creating their posters.Students brainstorm to find solutions to any problems.
2.Posters are displayed.
