1. Topic-
Lesson plan on Information Technology that covers 3 major CompTIA A+ objectives which will help IT Technicians in real time work environments. This lesson plan will help a new IT technician with the basic understanding and will give them a basic knowledge of a computer system in a work environment.

2. Content-
This Lesson plan covers the following information which will help the student excel in the IT work environment:
PC Hardware
Printers
Troubleshooting

3. Goals: Aims/Outcomes-
1.To Identify the basic hardware on a computer system
2.To understand and identify different types of Printers
3.To understand and troubleshoot a PC

4. Objectives-
1.The student will learn the basic hardware and structure of the PC.
2.The student will learn the different types of printers and the basic installation of them on a basic network work environment.
3.The student will learn the basic steps to troubleshoot a PC and will be able to identify and fix the issue.

5. Materials and Aids-
Mike Meyers All-In-One CompTIA A+ Certification Book 8th Edition
PC System (tower)
Printers (laser,ink,impact)
Antistatic Wrist Strap
Individual laptop systems

6. Procedures/Methods-

A. Introduction-

1.Will identify and review hardware on a basic PC system which will be used in most work environments
2.Identify and examine the different types of printers which are used in the work environment and how to set them up.
3.Learn the steps of troubleshooting and figuring out how to identify and fix the issues on a basic PC.

B. Development-

1.The basic PC hardware will be identified by showing the student the internals of a PC tower. With the written material which they can follow, the student will be able to have hands on knowledge of the main hardware components of the PC system. This will give the student the ability to identify and understand what each main part does in the PC. By doing this, they will actually know what the real hardware looks like first hand.
2.With the different types of the printers that are being shown, the student will be able to identify and understand the difference between the 3 major types of printers that are used in today's work environment. Also the student will learn how to setup a basic printer on a network system by actually doing it first hand. This will allow the student to understand the uses of each different type of printer and how to set it up on as a network printer.
3.The student will identify certain basic issues which computer systems will have on a daily basis and will be able to fix these issues. The student will learn the basic steps in troubleshooting and will be able to put those steps into real time action by working on their own laptops to try to fix simple issues.

C. Practice-

1.The students will be shown the internals of a PC. I will be Opening the PC tower and identifying the main parts of a computer system. Also learning the correct techniques on how to work on a PC system or tower. I will go through the system and identify the main parts that the student will need to know and will teach them how to remove and replace that existing component.
2.Will show them a video on the many different types of printers and the uses of them. Also will give them Hands on activity with the printers to identify the differences of each type. Also will show them and teach them how to create a network printer on their individual laptops
3.Will show a video on the many different types of issues on computer systems. Will teach them the basic troubleshooting steps by showing them basic things to look at first and how to implement these steps when actually working on a computer.

D. Independent Practice-

1.Test the student on basic hardware components and the uses of them in a PC system
2.Test the student on the different types of printers and how to create and install them on a network
3.Test them on basic troubleshooting methods by having them identify the basic issue and how they would fix that problem.

E. Accommodations (Differentiated Instruction)-

Each student will work in teams to identify the components of the PC, the different types of printers and the uses for them, and will learn the steps in troubleshooting as a team. This will help individuals understand and learn at their own pace.

F. Checking for understanding-

Final paper to have them write down what they learned about PC components, printers, and troubleshooting.

G. Closure-

Answer any questions about the topics that was discussed and help answer any work experience questions.

7. Evaluation-
1.Have the student identify the certain parts on the PC
2.Have the student help fix and troubleshoot a pretend help desk call using the basic steps of troubleshooting
