1.Having students compose an eight bar composition of their choosing
2.Having the students make an arrangement of a popular song of their choosing
3.Having the students create another composition with specific guidelines produced by the teacher.
 
5. Materials and Aids-
Computer, Finale Software
 
6. Procedures/Methods-

A. Introduction-

Playing an example of a teacher made composition
 

B. Development-

1.Showing a short tutorial on how to use Finale
2.Teacher makes another small composition in front of the class showing it's ease
 

C. Practice-

1.Have the class make a composition together through the teacher
2.Going around to every student and hear a composition that they make with no guidelines
 

D. Independent Practice-

See Objectives 2 and 3
 

E. Accommodations (Differentiated Instruction)-

This type of lesson plan is for a well endowed school with at least 7 to 10 computers with this technology. If there is a problem with money, you can have the students work in groups of three or for and that will also help the students being able to work in groups.
 

F. Checking for understanding-

Everyday students will have bellwork with specific guidelines that will be graded on a daily bases
 

G. Closure-

Each student will have a final project with specified guidelines that they must play in front of the class

8. Teacher Reflection-
With more money, there could be a lot of different types of accommodations that would be very useful to helping teach the students. For example, this technology is used often with MIDI keyboards and can get pretty expensive.
