Using school cameras. Editing videos. Visual story telling. Creating a script. Using themes and concepts.
3. Goals: Aims/Outcomes-
1. Students will learn how to use a camera and video editing software.
2. Students will create a movie theme, script and find a film location.
3. Students will cast actors, and use props.
4. Students will film small movies.
4. Objectives-
1. Students will collaborate with a partner.
2. Students will delegate tasks.
3. Students will problem solve with their partner.
5. Materials and Aids-
School cameras, school computers and editing equipment. Possibly props from home.
6. Procedures/Methods-

A. Introduction-

1. Show example movie.
2. Talk about how to create own short movie.
3. Class discussion for film theme.
4. Set expectations.

B. Development-

1. Demonstration of how to operate camera.
2. Demonstration of video editing equipment.

C. Practice-

1. Monitor script creation and choosing a theme for movie.
2. Guide students with problem solving strategies.
3. Monitor filming and use of camera.
4. Monitor and guide film editing.

D. Independent Practice-

1. Assign teams with creating a theme and script to be turned in before filming.
2. End of day two must have filming complete.
3. Day three students edit their movies using editing software.
4. Movie must contain three scenes, a theme and appropriate dialogue.
5. Editing must include movie title, credits and transitions.

F. Checking for understanding-

1. Review scripts before filming can begin. Script must have three scenes, appropriate dialogue and a theme.
2. Check footage before videos are uploaded. The footage must contain three complete scenes, shot correctly.
3. Preview edited videos for above stated goals.

G. Closure-

1. Watch short films as a class.
2. Discussion of films with class.
7. Evaluation-
1. My rubric to check how well students met the project's expectations.
2. Student's self-grade. How well did they think they met all of the project's goals.
8. Teacher Reflection-
This was a very fun project! Students enjoyed and were very involved with their project. They were able to be creative a choose a film theme. They learned a lot about using a camera and giving directions. They learned about editing a movie with editing software.
