This chapter provides an overview of the State Portal. We will focus on the tools that you use each day on the job in the State Portal. In order effective, one must be able work effectively, efficiently and with confidence.

Task - An action item in the State Portal that must be completed on a case.

URL - Uniform Resource Locator, (a website address.)

TLM Task List manager - A workload management tool withing the state Portal
The State Portal is a workload management toll that provides a single interface to the web base processing application, TLM, and other systems. it also provides access to case documents, forms and information.

6. Procedures/Methods-

A. Introduction-

1.Introduce the State Portal
The State Portal is not a part of the TIERS system; it is a tool to help manage tasks that relate to TIERS cases. Much of the information available in the state portal comes from TIERS.
2.This chapter provides an overview of the State Portal. We will focus on the tools that you use each day on the job in the State Portal. In order effective, one must be able work effectively, efficiently and with confidence.

3. To start we will view how the state portal looks on
 

B. Development-

1.Show the State Portal on through Lab Top connected to projector. Students should be able to view Lab Top screen on Projector.
2. Access the state Portal website
3. enter the teacher user name
4. enter the teacher user password
5. Click login button, a pop-up window appears with acknowledgment of the security agreement.
Once the message is read and agreed to click OK.


 

C. Practice-

The instructor will issue each student their individual user id and password.
Students will now attempt to log in to the state portal. The class will complete each step together, before going on to the next step.
 

D. Independent Practice-

1. To demonstrate understanding of the logging in process, students will log on to State portal home page independently.
2. Students are to write down the names of the links they see when they first enter the home page.
2. Links should be Department Homepage; Task List Manager; CHIP/Perinatal; and Data Mart

We will go over at a latter time the functions of each link.
 

E. Accommodations (Differentiated Instruction)-

1.Colored overlays
2.For inclusion all material will be read allowed as a group as well as time to read independently
3.Extra time is allowed for those that require personal instruction.
4. Student Manual is also viewable on the projector screen for a bigger font.
 

F. Checking for understanding-

1. Walk around to each student computer and verify that students are able to log in and out of the state portal.
2. Ask student if they are having difficulty logging in.
3. View the students screen to see if they are getting error messages regarding logging into the system.
 

G. Closure-

1.Once students have become familiar with the state portal home page, direct their attention to the upper right hand corner of the screen. In small white lettering there is a link that reads "log out".
2.Students are to click this link to log out of the system.
3. The students should be taken to the log on page, where they first entered their log on information.
