Child is struggling to grasp basic words and is unable to complete the tasks given.
Child knows the basic words, but has difficulty learning new words that are presented.
Child shows clear understanding with the basic words and is not necessarily overwhelmed by the new words given.
Child is outstanding with basic words and is quick to follow along with learning the new words and is excellently showing a deep and growing understanding for their spelling list.

Ability to Follow Directions
Child does not regard the directions and/ or completes tasks out of order.
Child follows some directions to an extent and/ or skims the instructions he/ she is given.
Child follows the directions well enough to understand what needs to be done. They get the gist of the instructions and are able to complete the main tasks at hand.
Child follows reads the directions thoroughly, as to ensure their success and they are able to complete every task at hand.

Focus
Child is unable to concentrate on the lesson and therefore sets them self up for failure, not being able to learn from the WebQuest that has been presented.
Child focuses on occasion, being able to learn very little from the Webquest.
Child is normally focused and is not deterred from working on most cases.
Child is always focused and does not succumb to the temptation of being distracted, therefore learning as much as they can in the time they are given.

Child does not apply them self and chooses to waste time instead of utilizing every second that they are able to get work done.
Child rarely puts much effort into staying on track and completing the tasks in the time given.
Child usually puts their effort into the assignment and is often good at getting a lot done in the time given.
Child applies them self greatly and excels at getting the most amount of work done in the time they have received to do complete the tasks.

Child never uses their time wisely. They are at an unusually slow pace in comparison to the class, due to their inability to balance their time.
Child occasionally uses their time wisely, but is still behind in comparison to the class, due to their inability to balance their time more often.
Child almost always spends their time wisely and is at a normal pace alongside the class.
Child spends their time wisely and finds a perfect balance and understanding of how much time should be spent on each lesson. They may even be ahead of the class.
