Volume: (Comm) How well has the player controlled the volume of their instrument?
Poor: The player is either far too loud or far too quiet throughout the majority of the performance.
Satisfactory: The player is too loud or too quiet for large sections of the performance.
Good: The player is only moderately too loud or quiet and for only small sections of the performance.
Excellent: The player is perfectly positioned in terms of volume. Their instrument can be heard, but it does not overwhelm other instruments.

Instrument control. How well has the student kept the tone of their instrument under control? Are there unwanted ringing notes? Is the sound too harsh? To muffled? Are there mis-hits?
Poor: The student is little tonal control of their instrument, and is not able to control unwanted ringing notes.
Satisfactory: The student is getting some tonal control of their instrument, but still has large lapses in concentration.
Good: The student usually is getting a good tone from their instruments and usually plays it carefully.
Excellent: The student is getting a good tone from their instrument, and is playing it carefully.

12 Bar Blues: How well does the student know the structure/pattern of the 12-bar Blues?
Poorly: The student gets lost frequently and makes frequent chord changes too soon or too late, causing the group to restart.
Satisfactory: The student makes enough mistakes in the pattern to create group confusion, with quick restarts needed.
Good: There are only minor deviations from the pattern that do not terribly disrupt the group.
Excellent: There are no deviations from the pattern.
