3. Goals: Aims/Outcomes-
1.Students will define synthetic drugs.
2.Students will read an article about synthetic drugs
3.Students will complete a student survey with peers
 
4. Objectives-
1.Teach the harmful effects of synthetic drugs
2. Teach ways to prevent using drugs
3.Teach what to do if you or someone you know is addicted to drugs
 
5. Materials and Aids-
Packet of 3 pages: While reading/listening page, homework page, and student survey page. Video, power point, pamphlet for each student, example of homework, and standards written on board.
 
6. Procedures/Methods-

A. Introduction-

1.students will watch video on synthetic drugs
2.present powerpoint with definition of synthetic drugs
3.what are the effects of taking synthetic drugs
 

B. Development-

1.Teachers will pass out packets
2.Teachers will read article
3.Students will complete read along while teachers read article
 

C. Practice-

1.Students will turn to page 2 in their packets
2.Teacher will explain student survey by reading directions and giving an example
 

D. Independent Practice-

1. Students will complete survey in class
2.pick a couple students to share questions and answers.
 

E. Accommodations (Differentiated Instruction)-

1.Video used visuals
2.listening gap fill in while teacher reads
3.give examples of classwork and homework
4.working in pairs and sharing ideas with classmates
 

F. Checking for understanding-

1.have students fill out true and false page located in packet
2.pass out pamphlets for students to take home.
3.Homework: poster, explain and show example
 

G. Closure-

1.Refer back to video
2.show students 3 websites that they can go to if they or somebody they know has a drug problem
