Spanish III.
SD World Language Content Standards:
2.4 Analyze the influence of significant artistic and scientific/technological contributions of the target culture on the world community.

3. Goals: Aims/Outcomes-
1.Students will understand the causes of the Spanish Inquisition
2.Students will research and understand the main ideas of the book Don Quixote.
3.Students will understand what prompted this author to write the book.
4. Students will put together their knowledge to make a presentation.
 
4. Objectives-
1.Students work with a partner to design their project.
2.They will be partnered with a student who they can easily meet with outside of the class.
3. They will have to work together and present each of their research.
 
5. Materials and Aids-
Videos, Internet, Library resources, a Journal, Power point presentation
 
6. Procedures/Methods-

A. Introduction-

The students will make a presentation to the Spanish class after researching the Spanish Inquisition, watching the film Man of La Mancha, and researching the famous Spanish novel Don Quixote and Miguel de Cervantes. In their presentation, the students must have graphics, choosing from a slide show, clips from the movie Man of La Mancha, etc.
 

B. Development-

Learning Activities to help students develop and demonstrate the understandings:
1.Give examples to the class of how history affects culture.
2. Show websites that will provide accurate information.
3. Give examples of how an author writes from a cultural bias.
 

C. Practice-

1. Quiz on the movie.
2. Students may have group discussions about the novel Don Quixote.
3.Find information on the Internet.
4.Find information in other printed materials from the library.
5.Make graphics.
 

Accommodations (Differentiated Instruction)-

1. Method of presentation:
Struggling students may give a shorter presentation, accelerated students can utilize more research and give a longer presentation. If they would like, students may give a longer presentation while incorporating other relevant research if approved.
2. Amount of work:
The Proficient students may do more of the incorporation of ideas, while the struggling students may do more concrete work on the project.
