How to become a successful Journalist.
 
2. Content-
The different kinds of Journalism, The history of Journalism, The work environment, The pay/salary, A day in the life of a Journalist, Criticisms of Journalism.
 
3. Goals: Aims/Outcomes-
1. To teach students about the career of Journalism.
2. To get the students thinking about what's behind the press.
3. To teach them about the different types of Journalism.
 
4. Objectives-
1. The students will fill out a questionnaire before and after the presentation.
2. The students will listen to my presentation with the power point.
3. The students will pay attention to my examples of newspapers.
 
5. Materials and Aids-
Power Point sideshow, Speaker Notes, Questionnaire before and after, Smart Board, Computer, Jump rive.
 
6. Procedures/Methods-

A. Introduction-

1. Introduce myself.
2. Presentation overview
3. Hand out questionnaire
(5 minutes)
 

B. Development-

1. What is Journalism?
2. The different types of Journalism.
3. The History of Journalism.
4. The work environment
5. The Criticisms of Journalism.
6 A day in the life of a Journalist.
(10-20 minutes)
 

C. Practice-

1.The students will take notes during my presentation.
2. Students will pay attention during my presentation.
3. Students will take a final questionnaire at the end of my presentation on what they have learned.
 

D. Independent Practice-

1. Questionnaire before presentation to see what students know.
2. Questionnaire after presentation to see what students have learned.
3. The students could look at some newspapers that I have brought in.
 

E. Accommodations (Differentiated Instruction)-

1. Bring in newspaper as an example.
2. Present my slide show to the class.
3. To show pictures on my slide show of what the slide is speaking about.
 

F. Checking for understanding-

1. I will answer any questions from the students.
2. I will have them fill out a questionnaire before and after my presentation.
 

G. Closure-

1. Answer to my core question.
2. I will ask if there are any questions and answer any questions from the students.
3. Students will fill out the final questionnaire from my presentation.

7. Evaluation-
1. The teacher will write how well my performance was.
2. The teacher will analyze the results of the questionnaires.
