3. Goals: Aims/Outcomes-
1. To teach students how to properly date and space journal entries in their notebooks.
2. Video lesson will allow students to review procedures or new students to know what is expected for journals.

 
4. Objectives-
1.Students will use complete sentences, correct grammar and punctuation when writing in journals.
Standards addressed: W 4.1A, w4.2A, w4.2b, W 4.2D, W4.3B, W4.4, L4.1
 
5. Materials and Aids-
smartboard/ projector
video site- Vine or move note,
tablet, notebooks
 
6. Procedures/Methods-

A. Introduction-

1. Students will be required to have journal entry daily in their morning notebooks.
They will be required to have date and use proper spacing between words and new journal entries.
 

B. Development-

1. Teacher will model correct journal entry form. Learning how to put more than one entry on a page along with the date.
This will be videoed to be played back when a student moves in or forgets how to do journals.
 

C. Practice-

1.Students will practice entering a journal in notebook.
2.Teacher will walk around the room checking for understanding
 

D. Independent Practice-

1.Daily journal writing with given topic.
 

E. Accommodations (Differentiated Instruction)-

1.Students with limited writing skills will be allowed fewer sentences.
2. Provide larger lined paper.
 

F. Checking for understanding-


1.Daily teacher will spot check that journals are entered correctly
 

G. Closure-

I will use a self made video clips to show how journals should look in their notebooks. This will be shown daily the first week of school.
 
7. Evaluation-
1.Weekly teacher will check journals and provide feedback.
